ET's Mary Hart sits down with 'The Proposal' actor Ryan Reynolds to get the story behind his engagement to actress Scarlett Johansson, an experience he says is kind of a "blur."

"It's sort of like what they teach trial lawyers," Ryan says of his proposal to Scarlett. "Never ask a question unless you're absolutely sure of the answer."

He continues jokingly, clarifying his statement, "It is the best evasive tactic I could come up with on short notice."

As for his on-screen romance and nude scene with longtime friend Sandra Bullock, the actor tells ET the "awkward" moments only brought them closer together. "I thought I knew her before, but now I really know her," he says of Sandra.

"We rarely ever talk about work when we hang out with each other," Ryan said of his friendship. "Lo and behold, later we were slamming into each other stark naked on a set in Boston."

In theaters June 19, 'The Proposal' stars Sandra as a feared and demanding Big Apple boss who finds herself faced with deportation back to Canada when her visa application is denied. Enter Ryan, her miserable assistant, who she coerces into marrying her in order to gain U.S. citizenship.
