Whitney Houston's highly anticipated return is official with the release date for her first album of original material since 2002.

Just in today, Arista records has announced the release date of September 1.

Earlier this year, Clive Davis told reporters to expect classic Whitney all the way. "We're not going to compromise who she is to fit into today's hip-hop radio market," he said. "The public wants Whitney material."

Songs for the album have been produced and written by Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am, songwriter Sean Garrett and R&B singer Akon.
