Comedy legend Mel Brooks will receive the tribute treatment by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and some of his favorite stars are lining up to be there!
ET's own Leonard Maltin will host the evening's events on Friday, July 24, at 8 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, featuring numerous film clips and stories from Mel's artistic collaborators and friends, including scheduled guests Richard Benjamin, Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Carl Reiner, Tracey Ullman and Lesley Ann Warren.
One of only 12 individuals to have won all four major show business awards -- the Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony -- Mel Brooks' career as a writer, producer, director, composer and actor/comedian spans over 50 years, highlighted by such comedy classics as 'Blazing Saddles,' 'High Anxiety,' 'History of the World - Part 1' and the film and stage versions of 'The Producers' and 'Young Frankenstein.'
