ET was in Los Angeles Thursday night as Chaz Bono walked his first red carpet since the news broke that he was transitioning from female to male.
Chaz posed proudly with longtime girlfriend Jennifer Elia at the opening night of Outfest, a film festival celebrating gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender images in film.
'La Mission' starring Benjamin Bratt, and written and directed by his brother Peter Bratt was the headlining film at the opening of the festival on Thursday night. Benjamin tells ET about the film, and opens up about Chaz's appearance at the event.
"First of all it's a celebration, it's a festive night," Benjamin tells ET. "We're the opening night film at the LA Outfest, it's an incredible honor for both of us."
"I think it's pretty auspicious, I think it takes a great deal of courage to be here and be part of that personal celebration," Benjamin adds about Chaz's attendance at the event. "I've never met him, but I'm looking forward to it tonight, so we're happy to be here."
ET also caught up with Lisa Kudrow, Christina Ricci, Outfest Executive Director Kirsten Schaffer, and Outfest Achievement Award winner Don Roos -- watch the video to see more from the event.
