For the first time in "Survivor" history, the reward challenge was brought to a halt by a medical emergency when castaway Russell Swan collapsed during the game. Jeff Probst made the decision to cancel the challenge.

Now ET talks to the 42-year-old attorney from Pennsylvania about what happened.

ET: What happened when they took you out of the game? Did you go to the hospital, or do they have a clinic?

Russell Swan: They have a clinic set up. It looked like it had all the capabilities of a hospital. I was there from anywhere from 10 minutes to two days, depending on which brain cells I want to believe.

ET: What does 10 minutes to two days mean? Were you hallucinating?

Russell Swan: My memory of that entire day is completely different than either what I have been told or what I saw on TV. In the challenge itself, my memory is I was winded, but perfectly fine. I remember taking a knee to rest at the puzzle. My memory is I pulled the puzzle up to my chin and knocked myself on the ground, and somebody asked me if I was ok. I was still blindfolded, and I said I was fine. Next thing I know I was woozy, but I thought I was woozy from hitting myself in the chin. Next thing I know, they are talking about taking me out of the game. I was pretty pissed off. I couldn't understand what the big deal was because I had only been down there for 10 minutes. I just needed a drink of water. That is what I remember, but after seeing the episode, that is a complete departure from reality.

ET: Galu was doing so well. How hard was it for you to leave your tribe?

Russell Swan: I was devastated. I was absolutely and completely devastated. I thought they were taking me out and being overly cautious. I was hoping the merger was coming soon, so I could shed the whole chief thing and be on my merry way to winning the game and collecting the $1 million, so to go out on a medical [emergency] was just absolutely devastating.

ET: Do you think someone else can step up and take over the leadership of Galu?

Russell Swan: There is any number. That tribe is pretty strong. It could be anyone from Laura to Brett to Shambo to Dave. Anyone of those folks could step up and be chief, but who would want to? It is not a good position to be in.

ET: Now that you can watch on TV, what do you think of all the Foa Foa drama? Do you think that contributed to them not doing as well?

Russell Swan: It is interesting because, of course, I was floored when I first saw the shenanigans of the other Russell, but you know, I can never remember a challenge where that dude didn't go all out. He may have made people's lives miserable, but I think they still tried to perform 100 percent. The problem is, No. 1 they just weren't as strong. No. 2, their leadership wasn't that good. Mick was useless. So, I don't think they ever jelled. Maybe with the fact that little man was over there wreaking havoc. Even so, they didn't jell. They had some weak people. Natalie seemed useless. She was riding on other people's coats. But they are still in the game.

"Survivor: Samoa" airs tonight at 8 p.m. on CBS.
