ET has learned that a Los Angeles judge on Friday ordered that Anna Nicole Smith's former companion and two of her former doctors stand trial on charges of allegedly providing the late star with prescription drugs illegally.
The decision was made following a three-week preliminary hearing that was held to determine if attorney Howard K. Stern, psychiatrist Dr. Khristine Eroshevich and Dr. Sandeep Kapoor should stand trial.
ET has learned that Stern faces 11 felony counts, while Eroshevich and Kapoor each face six felony counts. If they are convicted of all charges, each defendant could face more than five years in state prison.
"These are very serious violations that will deservedly be heard by a jury," said Attorney General Brown said in a statement. "This will send a message that the laws regarding prescription drug safety will be vigorously enforced in California."
All three have pleaded not guilty and are set to be arraigned on Dec. 11, says the AP. Keep checking back here for the latest.
