Jaycee Dugard reportedly gave authorities a false name and became defensive under questioning in the hours before her alleged kidnapper, Phillip Garrido, was arrested.

A report by California's Inspector General goes as follows: On August 26, Dugard initially identified herself to Garrido's parole agent as "Alyssa" and said she was the mother of two younger girls with her.

When the parole agent continued to question her, she became "defensive and agitated, wanting to know why the parole agent was interrogating them." She said she knew Garrido was a registered sex offender, but added that he was "a changed man and a great person who was good with her kids."

Garrido then told authorities that "Alyssa" and the two younger girls were all sisters, and his brother was their father. Upon further questioning, though, he said he'd kidnapped and raped "Alyssa." Later, Dugard disclosed her actual identity and said she'd been kidnapped and raped by Garrido. Police than arrested Garrido and his wife Nancy.

Dugard was allegedly kidnapped eighteen years ago at the age of 11 by the Garridos. She allegedly bore two daughters by her abductor. Garrido and his wife have pleaded not guilty to 29 counts tied to Dugard's disappearance, says the Associated Press.
