Country music sensation Carrie Underwood steps into the spotlight for Robin Roberts' hour-long special "In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: Bright Lights. Big Stars. All Access Nashville," airing at 10/9c tonight on ABC. Watch the video of her special high school homecoming performance!

In the TV special, Carrie takes Robin back to her hometown in Oklahoma, where she surprises her former high-school with an appearance, a performance -- and a very special gift!

"That's something about country music stars -- they remember their roots," Robin tells ET. "They remember where they come from, and that's something that never leaves them."

Robin also reveals never-before-seen footage of Carrie in her pageant days, and the former "American Idol" talks about her boyfriend, marriage, babies and the future!

"She can be herself," says Robin of Carrie making the rounds in her hometown. "They're so proud of her."

Carrie is profiled along with two more of country music's hottest stars, Tim McGraw and Martina McBride, who also show Robin a glimpse into their personal lives.
