Ellen DeGeneres grilled Adam Lambert about his headline-grabbing "American Music Awards" performance, in which he kissed his male keyboardist and had some provocative choreography. Does the "American Idol" runner-up have any regrets?

He "forgot that this was the first time people were seeing me on TV again after 'Idol'" and admitted, "I think in hindsight, I look back on it and I go, 'Ok, maybe that wasn't the best first impression to make again or the first second impression.'"

Though ABC cancelled his "Good Morning America" appearance following the AMA's, Lambert respects the network's decision. He said, "They gave me a great opportunity to close the AMA's and I would never want to smack that gift force in the mouth. I think that they were taking a big leap of faith having me do that and unfortunately it didn't work out as we all thought it would." He was instead scheduled on CBS's "The Early Show."

Lambert will perform a likely toned-down number for the daytime television audience on Tuesday's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." His debut solo album, "For Your Entertainment," is in stores now.
