Paul Bettany plays a warrior priest who kicks vampire butt in the horror thriller 'Priest,' in theaters August 2010, and the star tells ET he took on the project because he hates bloodsuckers!

"I loathe them," he says. "There's a reason I did the movie. I just can't bear them."

Based on a comic book, 'Priest' follows Paul's character as he defies the church to chase down a band of vampires who kidnapped his niece.

Of course, the film has its share of incredible stunts, but Paul says he wasn't that nervous to perform some of them - including jumping off a 30-foot cliff.

"I'm naturally blond and an actor so I just do what I'm told," he jokes. "I try not to think these things through too much."

Also starring 'Twilight''s Cam Gigandet as a sheriff and 'Live Free or Die Hard' star Maggie Q as a priestess who team up with Paul, the film reunites Paul with 'Legion' director Scott Stewart.
