Mansion hideaways, an alias, a sports car… In a bombshell interview on Friday's night's "20/20," John Edwards' former aide Andrew Young claimed that over a million dollars had been poured into the cover-up of Edwards' affair with ex-mistress Rielle Hunter.

Young held hands with his wife Cheri as he told ABC News' Bob Woodruff about the expenses that allegedly went into keeping the then-pregnant Hunter out of the spotlight during Edwards' presidential campaign.

"Money was no object. We were living in mansions, flying around in jets. It was like falling down a rabbit hole," Young said.

"20/20" says Edwards' campaign finance chairman, the late Fred Baron, rented a $20,000-a-month Montecito ranch house for the Youngs and Hunter to live in while waiting for Hunter's daughter with Edwards, Frances Quinn, to be born.

Young claims he and Edwards also received a total of more than $700,000 in checks from Rachel "Bunny" Mellon, who "20/20" describes as a reclusive heiress and billionaire in her mid-90s at the time. Young says that with Mellon's money, he bought Hunter such items as a $28,000 BMW and rented her a four-bedroom home for $3,000 a month.

Young says at one point, the then-pregnant Hunter even moved in with him, his wife and their three children - and he claims Edwards visited Hunter at their home.

"It was disgusting. His wife's stricken with cancer four, five miles from our house, and we felt dirty," Young says.

Even more lurid, the former aide alleges that Edwards and Hunter secretly met in Edwards' home and made love in the very bed the former senator shared with his now-estranged wife Elizabeth Edwards.

Past bombshell allegations by Young include his claims that Edwards wanted Hunter to abort their baby and that a sex tape starring Edwards and Hunter allegedly exists.

John Edwards' lawyers had this to say to "20/20": "From media reports, it is obvious that there are many allegations which are simply false. It appears that Andrew Young is primarily motivated by financial gain and media attention."
