The third annual "BET Honors" will honor music great Whitney Houston and offer a star-studded lineup of tribute performances. Read on for more…
The show, hosted by Gabrielle Union, will recognize the accomplishments of Houston (Entertainment), Queen Latifah (Media), and Sean "Diddy" Combs (Entrepreneur), as well as renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Keith Black (Public Service) and educator Dr. Ruth Simmons (Education).
The event will feature tributes from Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, India Arie and other music heavyweights. Hudson will sing Houston's hit song "I Will Always Love You," and Taraji P. Henson will present Queen Latifah with her award. Actor/comedian Chris Tucker will present the Public Service award before a soulful performance by Stevie Wonder.
In addition to musical highlights, the show will also recognize the recent devastation in earthquake-ravaged Haiti, and call on viewers to help if they can, also referencing BET's own initiatives.
"The BET Honors" premieres during Black History Month, on Monday, February 1 at 9 p.m. on BET.
