The song is featured on Bon Jovi's new album, This House Is Not for Sale, out Friday.

"I had been writing quite a bit for a record, but it came into focus when I saw that picture," Bon Jovi said of the black-and-white Jerry Uelsmann photo, above, which now serves as the album cover. "I had been through a lot in these last three [years], there's a lot of turmoil, and I was looking for focus. That picture, I promise you, just jumped off the page and said 'Hello.' And I said, 'I get it.'"

"It's an old grand house with deep roots that's a little beat up right now, but it's got a hell of a story," he told ET's Nischelle Turner. "The first thing I thought of was these four walls being representative of the four members of the band, and then there's a line and it says, 'This heart, this soul, this house is not for sale.' It's a record about our integrity."

When he's not playing rock god onstage, Bon Jovi says he's just a regular dad to his four kids with his wife, Dorthea Hurley. The couple's eldest son, Jesse, plays football for Notre Dame.

"I'm just one of the dads," the 54-year-old says of cheering his son on from the stands, "but then the marching band starts playing 'Livin' on a Prayer.'"
