Don't call RaeLynn insecure!
The 22-year-old country singer is battling jealousy with a song of empowerment on her new album, WildHorse, out Dec. 2, and only ET has your first listen to the track "Insecure."
"I had the title 'Insecure' in my phone and I didn't know how I wanted to write it. I was like, 'Maybe this is not going to be a song,' because I didn't want to write a song about being insecure, you know?" RaeLynn tells ET.
But a chance encounter alongside her husband, Josh Davis, provided a perfect creative spark.
"I was out with Josh and I kinda got insecure about this girl that was checking him out or whatever, and I remember getting in the car and doing the thing that girls always do -- 'Do you think she's prettier than me?' 'Do you think she's cooler than me?'" she recalls. "He was like, 'Babe, I don't look at anybody but you. She doesn't count to me. You're the only girl that I see.' Something about him saying that, I figured out the way I wanted to write this song."
RaeLynn co-wrote the song with fellow The Voice alum Nicolle Galyon and Jimmy Robbins.
"I wanted this song to be like a pep talk, like, 'Don't get insecure. He's not into her. She's playing dirty all flirty from across the room. You might think that girl's a 10, but she doesn't count to him,'" she says, reciting the song's chorus. "I love that line in the song because it's so true. I know that I have girl crushes! When a girl walks in, I'll be like, 'Damn, she looks good!' and I'm like, 'I wonder what he thinks about her?' But when you find a man that's in love with you, they don't even look at her. They just see you."
RaeLynn tied the knot with her Nashville financial account manager hubby, whom she's adorably admitted to "crushing on" since she was 18 years old, earlier this year in a whimsical winter-themed February wedding.
Among those in attendance to watch the couple say 'I do' was RaeLynn's The Voice coach Blake Shelton, with girlfriend Gwen Stefani in tow. RaeLynn re-teamed with Blake on his 2016 fall tour, and the singer says that husband Josh has absolutely no insecurity about being married to a star.
"He is so supportive of everything," she says. "My favorite is watching him beam on the side of the stage while I sing!"
