Ellen DeGeneres and James Corden are in it to win it.

Corden made a surprise appearance on The Elle DeGeneres Show, airing Wednesday, where he played a game of "Finish the Lyric" with the host. Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson stepped in as game show host, as the two well-known music enthusiasts battled it out.

... But not without a little ribbing from Corden on Ferguson's hosting skills.

"I hope so much they don't cancel Modern Family," he cracked. "No one needs that to stay on the air more than you, right now."

Corden and DeGeneres were equally pretty great at the game, though couldn't come up with the popular Drake lyric, "You used to call me on my cell phone."

"We are both embarrassed," DeGeneres admitted.

Still, she quickly recovered with her rendition of Rihanna's "Bit** Better Have My Money," and Chance the Rapper's "No Problem."

Earlier, Ferguson revealed he was on day 30 of the Paleo Diet with his husband, Justin Mikita, but hilariously admitted that he hasn't been following the no alcohol rule.

Corden, who's hosting the GRAMMYs this Sunday on CBS, recently opened up to Esquire about how he was judged by his looks early on in his career, and commented on rumors that he's taking over Stephen Colbert's coveted 11:30 p.m. time slot.
