It’s been more than a year since James Harden and Khloe Kardashian split and the NBA star has no regrets. The 27-year-old Houston Rockets player opened up to Sports Illustrated about his time in the Hollywood limelight in a new interview.

“I didn’t like all the attention,” he said, referencing his romance with Kardashian. “I feel like it was for no reason. I wasn’t getting anything out of it except my name out there and my face out there, and I don’t need that.”

The constant attention took its toll on Harden, who couldn’t understand why people took interest in him.

“It wasn’t uncomfortable, but it wasn’t me. I don’t need pictures of myself when I’m driving my car. Who cares? What shoes am I wearing? Who cares? Where am I eating? Who cares?” he said. “It was unnecessary stuff that I think trickled down to my teammates. I had to eliminate that.”

These days, the reality star has moved on to Cleveland Cavaliers player Tristan Thompson and Harden remains single.

“I might watch a movie tonight,” he said during the Valentine’s Day interview. “My mom is my valentine.”

Though it may seem like Harden wanted to end things due to unwanted attention, Kardashian painted a very different picture during her talk show, Kocktails With Khloe, last year.

She opened up about the complicated relationship, which was going on while Kardashian’s ex Lamar Odom was recovering in the hospital.

"He wanted [a relationship]," she said of Harden at the time. "I wanted it, but I wanted to be realistic. He sought me out. He wanted to be committed and, you know, then wasn't committed. So Koko had to go go!"
