Hopper Penn made it through his darkest days after an ultimatum from his dad.
The 23-year-old son of actor Sean Penn posed for the U.K.'s Evening Standard, where he opened up about his past battle with meth addiction, as well as how his father's tough love helped him find his way.
"I was doing a lot of stuff but meth was the main one that brought me down," Hopper revealed. "I went to rehab because I woke up in a hospital and my dad said, 'Rehab? Or bus bench?' I was like, 'I’ll take the bed.'"
Even though it was quite literally a rude awakening, Hopper is thankful things happened the way they did.
"Thank God I got out of that because that was the worst time in my life," he admitted. "Because it's not fun when it gets to a point where you just need it."
Nowadays, Hopper has gotten his life together, taking part in a modeling campaign last year with sister Dylan Penn, where he bared a striking resemblance to his dad.
