Julia Roberts proudly reflects on her successful movie career.

The 49-year-old actress chatted with Good Morning America's Michael Strahan on Wednesday about her upcoming role in Smurfs 3, but also revealed what other films she's excited to share with her three children, daughter Hazel, 12, and sons Phinnaeus, 12, and Henry, 9.

"There's nothing more thrilling than creating a piece of work and feeling like you have some triumph to bring home and lay at the feet of your family," the Oscar winner noted. "In a few years, there are some [movies] that I'm looking forward to [showing my kids]."

This year marks the 20th anniversary of My Best Friend's Wedding, anddirector P.J. Hogan recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Roberts' character Julianne -- who attempts to sabotage the wedding of her friend, Michael (Mulroney) because she's in love with him -- originally had a different fate. According to Hogan, the romcom's ending initially had Julianne meeting a handsome stranger, played by Sex and the City star John Corbett, and living happily ever after.

Hogan said focus groups didn't understand "her motives," and so they decided to expand the character of Julianne's gay confidant, George (Everett), and have Roberts re-shoot the final scenes as a single woman.

Last June, Mulroney gushed over Roberts when he reunited with her at the Spike TV Guys' Choice Awards. "I'd walk a mile on broken glass for her," he told ET of his My Best Friend's Wedding co-star. "It doesn't always happen with every person that you love and work with -- you kind of go your separate ways. But we, against all odds, managed to maintain a great close friendship."
