As the chart-topping singer kicked off the Europe leg of his world tour, he shared a funny story about some of his body art with the audience on Sunday.

Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan starred in his upcoming music video for the hit song “Galway Girl,” and Sheeran wanted the talented Irish star to leave a permanent reminder of the experience on him.

“When we were filming it, I meant to get a tattoo of her handwriting saying ‘Galway Girl.’ It actually says ‘Galway Grill.’ Full-on, she really took the piss out of me. It actually says ‘grill,’ g-r-i-l-l,” he dished to the cheering crowd.

So is the red-headed pop star upset by the actress’ purposeful mistake?

“I’m actually kind of proud of her,” Sheeran insisted. “It’s the kind of thing that I would do.”

It’s been a banner year for Sheeran whose album ÷ (Divide) has broken several records around the globe with breakout hits “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill.”
