The two started dating after first meeting while coaching The Voice in 2015, and nearly two years later, they're still going strong. "In people's defense, I think it's so hard for people to wrap their heads around why Gwen would want to be with me," Shelton quipped during an interview with all The Voice coaches on Monday's Today show. "I don't blame 'em."
"You're crazy, you're crazy!" Stefani responded.
Today show co-host and Voice host Carson Daly also asked if the media attention has died down, now that the two have been dating for such a long time. "I don't think it's mellowed out, really," Shelton admitted. "I think we don't pay as much attention anymore. We're numb to it."
The 40-year-old country crooner added that he still sees a lot of fake news about his relationship with the 47-year-old No Doubt frontwoman. "Any time you see a story about us, it's either that it's a fake relationship or that we're already married," he explained. "Or we're gonna get married, or she's on her second set of twins. Or, you know, I'm sneaking behind her back to eat meat. I eat meat right in front of her face!"
"Every single one of those things is true," Adam Levine joked.
At the start of The Voice this season, Stefani confessed to ET that she was "nervous" to return to the show and work alongside Shelton. "I was like, 'This is going to be weird!'" she said. "But, you know, the show is so real. All it is is us just being there and being us. So, it's been really fun."
Shelton also joked with ET
that the competition is fierce despite his relationship with Stefani. When asked what would happen if there were a Team Blake-meets-Team Gwen steal, he quipped, "She is sleeping on the couch, that is what happens. She will be in the dog house."
