Salma Hayek graces the cover of HOLA! Magazine with her mother, Diana Jiménez, for the publication's May issue and opens up about the differences between raising her 9-year-old daughter, Valentina, and how she was brought up.

The How to Be a Latin Lover actress explained that her little mini-me is "growing up in different circumstances" and she doesn't always pass along the advice her mother gave to her.

"I don’t say the sort of things to Valentina that my mom said to me because her life is different," the 50-year-old actress explained. "What my mom taught me was very important to me, but I don’t pass that on to my daughter because she needs the opposite."

Married to French businessman François-Henri Pinault since 2009, Hayek's career spans nearly three decades and both have seen great success in their endeavors – thus giving their daughter a different way of life.

"I always knew that Salmita would be something big in her life because of her personality, her way of always working for what she wants, but she surprises me — because Salma is unstoppable," said Hayek's mom about her daughter's success.

Hayek also shared that her own daughter is a natural in front of the camera and the few traits that they don't have in common.

"Valentina and I are not very similar personality-wise. But she doesn’t have stage fright on camera," Hayek said. "In my family everyone is very confident, graceful and light. Valentina and I are the ones who panic on stage. But she gets in front of the camera with no problem!"

In addition to Valentina, Hayek is also stepmom to Pinault's three children, Augustin, Mathilde and François, and knows the importance of having a maternal instinct.

"Every woman has a maternal instinct inside and I think that it’s important that all humans try to have that experience and apply that maternal instinct to some living creature."

"You don’t have to have children, but be responsible and take care of animals or a plant," she added. "Feeling responsible helps you develop as a human being…You learn a lot about yourself when you do something for someone else."
