Adam Driver is paying it forward.

The 33-year-old actor became a U.S. Marine after 9/11, but broke his sternum in a mountain biking accident just before deployment. On Tuesday, Driver drove his Jeep over to Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania, to surprise the family of Army veteran John Williams, who was injured just before his troop was deployed to carry out Operation Desert Storm.

Williams' daughter, Haley, wrote to The Folds of Honor Foundation to share her dad's story, but ended up receiving more than she could've dreamed of, when Driver walked through the family's front door to deliver a scholarship to the nursing student, who worked 40 hours a week throughout college to afford her education.

"I just felt lucky to be there," Driver later told The Huffington Post. "Perseverance is a quality that can't be celebrated enough. Haley and her family embody it."

The Folds of Honor Foundation has already helped over 2,200 families over the past six years by giving scholarships to spouses and children of fallen and disabled veterans.
