Louis Tomlinson admits his late mother, Johannah Deakin, had one final wish -- that he make peace with his former One Direction bandmate, Zayn Malik.

In a new interview with The Sun, the 25-year-old singer addressed any animosity between himself and Malik, also opening up about his mom's death from leukemia at the age of 43 in December 2016.

"My mum said, 'You've got to get back in contact with Zayn,'" Tomlinson said. "'Life's too f**king short.'"

The performer continued, speaking about his extremely close relationship with Deakin, saying, "A mother's intuition is just f**king crazy. It always felt supernatural to me. My mum always knew what I was feeling and what I wanted."

In March 2015, Malik announced his departure from One Direction, and the solo artist hasn't spoken highly of his bandmates since, though he did send his condolences to Tomlinson via Twitter after the death of his mother.

"@Louis_Tomlinson love you bro!" Malik wrote. "All of your family is in my prayers. Proud of your strength and know your mum is too x."

Tomlinson also added that he "can't stand to hold a grudge with anyone," so he made the decision to meet with the "Still Got Time" singer.

"If there is any animosity, just clear the air," he stated. "I met up with him and it was nice. It was that brotherly love. We will always have that love for each other. I can't speak on behalf of him but we really care about each other."

As for how the rest of the band feels about Tomlinson? Niall Horan stressed that the "Back to You" singer is an "unbelievable guy."

"He's a great singer and someone that if, I'd say, we would have lost the plot along the way if we hadn't had Louis," Horan told Nova's 100. "He was a very vital member of One Direction."

Tomlinson is now hard at work on his solo album and released the video for his new single, "Back to You," on Friday morning.
