The little guy got a chance to get up close with a stingray, and he couldn't have been more fascinated.

Michael Phelps
recently raced a Great White (sort of) for Discovery Channel's Shark Week because he's a huge fan of marine life -- and it turns out his adorable baby boy loves the magic of underwater life as well.

Phelps and his wife, Nicole Johnson, took their little guy on a trip to the OdySea Aquarium on Thursday, and the adorable 1-year-old was absolutely fascinated by the different sea creatures on display -- including a stingray that came up to the glass to give Boomer a close look at its unique features.

"I think @boomerrphelps love for sea life might be as great as our is," Johnson wrote, tagging her husband in the caption to a slideshow of Boomer's cutest moments from the visit. "Lil man ran from tank to tank to see what was next laughing and yelling! I told him stingrays were one of my favorites and he happened to find one he could stand face to face with!"

The proud mama also snapped a heartwarming photo from outside the aquarium, as Boomer sat on his dad's shoulders and played with his sunglasses.

"Seriously can't get enough of my men.... #imightbeobsessed," she captioned the pic.

One thing is for sure, Phelps is definitely obsessed with sharks. The Olympic superstar, who got to swim with sharks for both of the Shark Week specials he took part in, has been posting about all the different species that he's gotten a chance to get close to.

The swimmer, whose episode of Shark School With Michael Phelps airs Sunday night, shared some memories from the life-changing shoot with his fans.

"During my shark week experience, I was lucky to meet some seriously cool people! However, one stands out, ‘Doc’ Dr. Samuel Gruber a legend of shark science," Phelps captioned a pic of himself and his wife sitting on the deck of a boat with Gruber, who is one of the co-hosts of Shark School.

Johnson also wrote that, during her husband's Shark Week experience, she too developed a love for the oft-maligned ocean predators, thanks to Shark School's other host, Tristan Guttridge.

"While @m_phelps00 was filming I was able to pick @tristanguttridge brain about the amazing sharks in Bimini... at one point they even allowed me to sit on the bottom watching MP free dive with reef sharks," she wrote, alongside a photo of her and Phelps in wet suits, sitting on a boat in the ocean. "Needless to say I'm in love with sharks and I can't wait to dive with Hammers #bucketlist #sharkweek."
