Before Bonnie Hunt was a daytime talk show host, she was an oncology nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago -- now, she's being honored for continuing to raise funds for research of treatments and cures for cancer.

Hunt will be awarded the True Grit Humanitarian Award by the John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary at their 24th Annual Odyssey Ball on April 18.

Past recipients of this award include Nancy Reagan and Larry King.
