"NCIS" is the one show on television that can stand up against the powerhouse, "American Idol," on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. Now, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo are on the ET stage to talk about their on-screen chemistry, which is one of the reasons their series is such a hit!
Michael says that the one thing he is asked most often by fans about Cote is: "They want to know how hot [she is]. I had a guy at the airport and he was all about the Ziva. He wanted to know if Ziva is dangerous and sexually charged."
The "NCIS" (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) team of special agents travel the globe to investigate all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties. Michael plays Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo, while Cote plays Officer Ziva David, a Mossad agent from Israel on loan to NCIS -- and they clicked. So much so that fans have nicknamed them Tiva, as if they were a soap opera super couple!
It didn't start out that way. Cote recalls that her first impression of Michael was not a positive one. She thought he was trying to sabotage her audition.
She tells ET, "I walked in and there was another girl auditioning, so two people were testing for the part, and she went in first. She was kind of flirty with [Michael] and I wasn't. Halfway through the audition [Michael] leaned over and grabbed my hair and did something off book, which he often does and I did not because I come from New York and the theatre."
When the audition was over, executive producer Donald Bellisario asked Michael to give Cote a lift, as being from New York, she didn't have a car. And that is when they clicked.
On tonight's episode, Tiva fans still won't get the hook-up they are hoping for, but Tony finally comes face-to-face with Michael Rivkin (Merik Tadros), the mysterious Mossad agent who was sent to Washington, D.C. by Ziva's father, and it is an encounter that he won't soon forget.
"NCIS" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
