Katherine Heigl and hubby Josh Kelley are about to become first-time parents!
Katherine made the announcement on an episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that will air on Friday, September 11.
She tells Ellen in the interview that she and Josh will bring home a baby girl that she is calling Naleigh from Korea "really very soon."
Katherine and Josh, who started the adoption process about a year ago, haven't met the baby yet, and Katherine explains, "They told us that it was a little girl and who she was and the information about six months ago. It was meant to take a long time. This sort of thing can take years. Her name is Naleigh. Well, I am naming her after my mother and sister Nancy, Leigh. So we call her Naleigh. I just dropped that one. Anyway, I'm sure that's fine we have to meet her first. We assume it's a Naleigh. She has special needs. She is a baby special needs baby and because of that it all moved so much faster. They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible."
She said that she always wanted to adopt: "We started talking about adoption even before we were engaged because it's really important to me. It's been a big part of my life and my family. My sister is Korean and my parents adopted her back in the 70's and so I just always knew that this is something I wanted to do. I made that really clear because not everybody is down with that. Not everybody thinks that. I just wanted to make sure that I was marrying a guy who understands that this was going to have to happen."
Katherine joked at the end of the interview that since the adoption is happening so soon: "I wanted to tell everybody so you don't think I stole a Korean baby!"
Tune in to Friday's "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" for Katherine's full interview!
