James Franco to Join Daytime Soap Opera

Movie star James Franco -- known for his roles in 'Spider-man,' 'Milk' and 'Pineapple Express' -- is taking an unusual career path to daytime television.

The actor has landed a recurring guest spot on the soap opera "General Hospital," ET confirms. The lengthy story arc begins Nov. 20 and will reportedly last about two months.

Franco will also be playing Allen Ginsberg in the film "Howl," scheduled to be released sometime next year.
