George Clooney's 'Up in the Air' has just been named best film of 2009!
The Jason Reitman helmed 'Up In The Air' has been named the best film of 2009 by the National Board of Review.
"The NBR is very proud to announce its honorees for 2009 – a year in which filmmakers’ voices and visions were innovative, exciting and eclectic. We are thrilled to honor Jason Reitman’s bittersweet and poignant film, Up In The Air, with wonderfully strong performances, writing and direction," NBR President Annie Schulhof said.
The NBR has also named Clooney as Best Actor for the film, a category in which he tied with Morgan Freeman for his performance in 'Invictus.' Clooney's co-star Anna Kendrick was named Best Supporting Actress for 'Up in the Air.' The film was also named Best Adapted Screenplay.
Best actress went to Carey Mulligan ('An Education'), while Woody Harrelson earned the Best Supporting Actor award for 'The Messenger.'
Veteran actor/director Clint Eastwood was named Best Director for 'Invictus.'
The 2010 Gala will be hosted by Meredith Vieira on Tuesday, January 12 in New York City.
