Two-time Oscar winner Jessica Lange will star in the big-screen version of "The Big Valley," the 1960s TV series about a wealthy ranching family and its conflicts.
Lange will play Barkley family matriarch Victoria Barkley, the role Barbara Stanwyck won an Emmy for in 1966. Lange's film is based on the original TV show, which also starred Lee Majors and Linda Evans and was set in the 1870s. The screenplay for the movie was inspired by the original pilot from the TV series, but also employs new material.
Production on the film begins July 19. Lange recently won an Emmy for Best Actress in a Miniseries for "Grey Gardens."
