Shrek Gets His Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

May 21, 2010

Shrek finally got respect Thursday afternoon when the ornery ogre joined such Hollywood legends as Bugs Bunny, Winnie the Pooh, Woody Woodpecker and Mickey Mouse with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And wouldn't you know it, Mike Myers just happened to be there too!

"The response has been so wonderful, it's just an honor to be a part of [the franchise]," said Myers, who voices the enduring green character. "He would say, 'It's magical.'"

Antonio Banderas, who voices Puss in Boots, was also there for the unveiling, and called Myers the "soul" of Shrek.

"In the world that we're living in today, with so many complications in every order, to have the possibility of making people laugh and happy for a couple of hours is a privilege and an honor," said Banderas.

Shrek is back in theaters this weekend with his fourth and reportedly final chapter, 'Shrek Forever After.'
