Wilson Phillips has reunited to record their very first Christmas album, and ET's own Kevin Frazier is exclusively in the recording studio with the chart-topping trio!
"Hold On" was Wilson Phillips' first single from their debut album in 1990, and it went No. 1, with their self-titled disc selling more than five million copies! But by 1993, after just two albums, the band broke up. Now, the girls are back together, and you'd never believe two decades have come and gone.
"It's like nothing's changed, honestly," says Carnie Wilson. "We blinked, and here we are again."
"It's like no time has passed," agrees Chynna Phillips.
Even though it's still only June, they're in a yuletide state of mind as they record Christmas in Harmony, due out this October.
"We have always wanted to make a Christmas record," says Chynna. "We always wanted to have that time together where we could just explore all the Christmas songs we could do."
Wendy Wilson adds, "We really missed singing together and making records," calling the process a fun, bonding experience. "It actually feeds our souls when we sing together."
In the intervening years, Chynna went solo, Carnie became a TV personality and all three became moms!
"We have nine kids between the three of us -- Wilson Phillips plus nine!" says Chynna.
The project is that much more of a blessing as earlier this year Chynna entered rehab seeking treatment for anxiety. Through it all, Carnie and Wendy were there for her.
"I had one of the most beautiful conversations with Carnie and Wendy when I was going through my really hard time," says Chynna. "I could feel the love literally emanating through the phone. ... They'll always be there for me."
Carnie also had her ups and downs in the weight battle department, and does not want to be known as the weight loss girl anymore.
"I want to be a healthy person," she says. "I think we all strive to be good mothers and healthy people, and that's really our main goal."
And, of course, their other goal is to make a great Christmas record. But after that, will there be another new Wilson Phillips album?
"We are praying for that," says Chynna. "We are so ready."
