Prince William will be breaking with at least one modern wedding tradition -- he won't wear a wedding ring once he ties the knot with Kate Middleton.
A rep for St. James Palace tells ET, "Prince William will not wear a wedding band. It is the couple's wishes to have one ring. It will be a Welsh gold ring that will be from Prince William to Kate."
A source tells People.com that a nugget of Welsh gold has been kept in the family vaults, and that William's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, has "given a piece of the gold that has been in the family for many years to Prince William as a gift."
People also reports that William's father, Prince Charles, does in fact wear a wedding band.
