Being svelte pays off in Hollywood, but gaining weight for a role and then losing it pays off big at Oscar® time. "Superstar Diet Secrets," examines this phenomenon. "In my 20s when I was just coming up in Hollywood, I had so many people telling me to lose weight that I was fat," Virginia shares on the TV special. "I knew the girls who were bulimic. Some of them would give me hints on how to be bulimic, and I was like, 'I couldn't do that.' I was constantly battling because my physical appearance is my product. I would gain weight and get criticized for that, whereas the girls with eating disorders were congratulated for having self control and for looking so beautiful."
