Charlotte King (KaDee Strickland) is a very strong, very sexual woman, so when she is sexually assaulted on tonight's episode of "Private Practice," her first instinct is to lie about what happened to her.
Pete (Tim Daly) discovers a bloodied and bruised Charlotte in the halls of the hospital and carries her to a room to treat her. But Charlotte lies to him and tells him that she was mugged and she is fine.
But Pete discovers that her hand is broken, her eye socket may also be broken and he has the police called. But when they get too persistent, Pete says, "She is injured and she needs medical attention."
While Pete is tending to Charlotte, Addison (Kate Walsh) comes in to give her the woman's touch and they have an honest conversation with Addison suggesting, "You will need the HIV cocktail, the morning-after pill, an STD prophylaxis and a pelvic."
When Cooper (Paul Adelstein) finds out what has happened to his fiancée, he says, "I'm supposed to protect her. I know it is the 21st century and you women have all surpassed us in lifespan, academic achievement and everything else, but when I was a kid my dad taught me one thing: When you find a woman, you marry her, get her pregnant and you spend the rest of your life taking care of her. Maybe that is Cro-magnon, but I am her man. I am supposed to keep her safe."
"Private Practice" airs tonight at 10 p.m. on ABC.
