The final four couples on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" battled on the dance floor in order to make it into the coveted top three, and next week's big finals.
Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were first up with the paso doble, earning a score of 27. Judge Len Goodman said, "You came out 100 percent. You gave it everything you've got." Judge Bruno Tonioli joked of the performance, "You need to go in anger management. … You danced like a fury." Judge Carrie Ann Inaba called the dance "amazingly passionate."
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough took the dance floor with their cha cha cha to rave reviews from the judges and a perfect score of 30. Bruno jumped up and danced in his seat, telling them, "That really was a luminous, vibrant, sexy cha cha cha and on top of it all, the execution was flawless." Carrie Ann said, "I've been waiting all season to see Jennifer Grey do a cha cha all by herself and I was not disappointed."
Bristol Palin, whose mother Sarah Palin was in the audience for moral support, and Mark Ballas thrilled the judges with their paso doble, which earned a score of 27. Carrie Ann called Bristol over to the judges' table for a hug, telling her, "I'm so happy to see you finally come out of your shell and nail it." Len commented, "You've been in the bottom two six times and yet [bounced back] with determination, it shows so much about your character." Bruno crowed, "I'll be damned, I never thought I was going to see this. The little lamb is turning into a tigress."
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer's samba wowed the judges, earning a 29. Len told Kyle, "I think you've got a bionic bum. … You had more bounce to the ounce than anyone else this season." Bruno said to Kyle, "You truly are a bouncing bundle of joy." Carrie Ann cried, "I have never ever seen so much pelvic action ever."
Brandy and Maksim thrilled with their second dance of the night, earning a score of 30 for their Argentine tango. Bruno had a laundry list of compliments for the pair, saying of the dance, "Lush, languid, voluptuous, full of flavor, great emotional depth. … Stunning!" Len complimented the pair on the "great atmosphere," while Carrie Ann called it "gorgeous."
Jennifer and Derek's waltz moved the judges, earning the pair a second 30! Carrie Ann commented, "Through dancing we actually can see people's souls … it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen." "Be still, my beating heart," Len said, continuing, "Sometimes a whisper can speak louder than a shout. This was quiet, it was delicate, it was poignant; if I'm dreaming, don't wake me up, because that was fabulous."
Bristol and Mark's waltz earned a score of 26. Carrie Ann was booed by the audience when she criticized the performance, while Len disagreed with Carrie Ann, saying, "This had a haunting feeling about it. … I can't agree with Carrie Ann, I thought it was beautiful." Bruno commented, "You really had a journey and you worked your way to this stage and I'm happy to see you here tonight."
Kyle and Lacey danced the Argentine tango to more positivity from the judges, earning a 29. Len commented, "You are a star. In 11 seasons, I don't think anyone has come out and performed with so much attack, so much enthusiasm as you." Bruno said, "You are season 11's Mr. Charisma," while Carrie Ann compared Kyle to former "Dancing" champ Emmitt Smith.
