Deep in the heart of Texas, two pageant frenemies -- Taralyn and Brooklyn -- compete to be the Ultimate Grand Supreme in the Groovy Girls Pageant on the next "Toddlers & Tiaras."
"It's hard to compete with my friends," Taralyn says as she watches Brooklyn on stage.
And Brooklyn's mom Kandice makes a face as she admits, "Taralyn usually places in front of Brooklyn."
In the Groovy Girls Pageant, all the girls are national-level competitors who are required to wear '70s or '80s retro disco wear, according to pageant director Tonya Bailey.
And taking a page from "Dancing with the Stars," it is not unusual for the young girls to get a spray tan to enhance their looks for the beauty segment of the competition.
"I was painting doors in my house with a spray gun, that's why I was like, 'I can do that,'" says Taralyn's dad Todd.
And his daughter says, "I like it way better that my dad tans me."
Backstage at the pageant in Nacogdoches, TX, the moms are more stressed out than their daughters as they try to get everything together so their daughters are picture pefect.
Finds out who takes home the crown when "Toddlers & Tiaras" airs Wednesday night at 10 p.m. on TLC.
