Elizabeth Banks announced Wednesday that she and her husband have welcomed a baby boy born via gestational surrogate.
The "30 Rock" actress, 37, tweeted Wednesday, "What's greater than overjoyed? Megajoyed? Add humility, love, awe. Sprinkle w cute. Result: my new life as a mom. It's a boy!"
She followed up with a blog post, sharing with the world that she and hubby Max Handelman are the proud parents of a son named Felix. The new mom writes, "Felix means 'happy' and 'lucky' in Latin. And true to his name, Felix is a very happy baby and a blessing on our life."
Banks shares that though she and her hubby have been together for almost 20 years, they were unable to get pregnant despite years of trying, including fertility treatments. She writes, "…our journey led us to gestational surrogacy: we make a 'baby cake' and bake it in another woman's 'oven'."
She closes the post, writing, "If you need me, I'll be changing dirty diapers and trying to get some sleep."
