Hugh Hefner's First TV Interview Since His Breakup with Crystal Harris

The last time Hugh Hefner, 85, made an appearance on "Piers Morgan Tonight" it was as one half of a happy couple, but on Thursday, the Playboy founder flew solo as he grappled to make sense of his public breakup with Crystal Harris, 25.

"I really don't know what happened," Hef admitted. "I think the real problems began a couple of months before the wedding was set when the lawyers got into it and we were talking about the pre-nup etc."

As far as his reason for getting married in the first place, Hef explained that he made the commitment because of shortcomings in his previous relationship with model Holly Madison, conceding that he had "not been there for [Holly] in the way that she wanted [him] to be."

In a recent interview with ET's Chris Jacobs, Crystal noted a few reasons for leaving Hef: the strict schedule of the Playboy mansion and the fact that she would always have to share Hef with other women.

The former couple's nuptials were to have taken place June 18. Hef announced Crystal's "change of heart" just four days before the scheduled ceremony.

"Piers Morgan Tonight" airs weeknights on CNN.
