30 Rock star Alec Baldwin says he'd like to enter politics and is thinking about running for mayor of New York City.

The 2013 mayoral race is probably out of the question due to his commitment to 30 Rock, the Emmy Award winner tells the New York Times. But Baldwin, 53, said he plans to establish a permanent New York City residence in preparation for running. His current legal residence is in Long Island.

The actor adds that he's still unhappy about current New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's rewriting of the term limits law in 2008, allowing him to serve another four years.

Baldwin said he's also talking with two universities about enrolling in a master's program in politics and government in order to better understand the fiscal responsibilities of the mayor's job.
