"This is a classic American musical that bred nerdy kids like me who got interested in things like Glee," said Darren, who grew up doing musical theater. "So we're back to the beginning."

Darren admitted that he is looking forward to the challenges that his new gig will present, but he also confessed that, in some ways, the job was a relief.

"I've got about two weeks to rehearse for this, which is a luxury considering that I usually have about two hours to rehearse most things on Glee," said Darren.
