Andy Cohen gracefully tackled ET's hard-pressing questions about The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' tragic storyline involving Taylor and Russell Armstrong.

As moderator of the reunion show, Andy reported that Taylor put on a brave face and "didn't shed a tear" at the taping. "She is coming from a place of strength and recovery now."

The Bravo exec and late-night host stands behind his decision for the show to go on as scheduled. In planning the season, he expected to follow "a story of a woman who is grappling with domestic violence in her marriage and how her friends are processing this information." The network and cast were all blindsided by just how dark the situation was behind closed doors.

Andy truly believes that Russell's dire "personal and financial crisis" and a change in his medications contributed to his demise and ultimately, his untimely death. He cited that Russell's business partner also took his own life. "This was a man who signed up to be on a second season of a show," Andy said in defense of his program. "This was a man that had expressed to producers that the first season of the show was very good for his business."

Life in the 90210 isn't only filled with Botox, Louboutins, and Ferraris. "I think personally what I learned is," Andy philosophized, "people who may be living pretty lives, who are wrapped in pretty packages, the truth of the matter is, that life isn't always pretty and it is rough and it is painful and as many good times as you can have, the bad times are right there as well."

Watch What Happens Live, television's only live late-night show, has expanded to five nights per week, now airing Sundays through Thursdays at 11 p.m. on Bravo. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Monday nights.
