Dozens of new TV shows will be fighting for audiences' attention in the coming weeks, but you'll want to save some DVR space for April 5, when ABC premieres the best new show of 2012: Scandal.
Brought to you by Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes, the series offers a fascinating look inside Washington D.C.'s most prolific crisis management firm, led by the fierce Olivia Pope -- played by the charismatic Kerry Washington, in her first TV role.
"I wasn't really looking to do television," Washington tells ETonline. But after giving the pilot script one read, she was hooked -- even though she admits, with a laugh, "I have no business being on a TV show; I have four movies coming out this year!"
"But the script was so good; I threw it across the room at one point. I really wanted this role -- and I had to beat out a lot of other actresses." But one look at Kerry Washington in action and it becomes clear that no one else was capable of infusing Olivia Pope with the perfect amount of guts and glory.
Check out an ETonline exclusive first look as Olivia & her team (comprised of Henry Ian Cusick, Columbus Short, Darby Stanchfield) debate the pros and cons of taking on a new client!
