How the 'Smash' Stars Are Reacting to All the Hype

Perhaps no other new show this season is being more hyped than NBC's Smash, starring Katharine McPhee, Angelica Huston and Debra Messing amongst other already well-known names. Executive produced by Steven Spielberg, the show that focuses on the intense behind-the-scenes drama in theater, when a team prepares a Broadway musical on the life of Marilyn Monroe, will premiere February 6th after The Voice.

So how are the show's stars coping with the intense pressure and hype?

"It's great placement and it's been a long time coming," Huston tells ET at last night's big premiere of the show held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. "We've really anticipated this night. I was thinking earlier on that there might be a sense of being in further limbo because it's not like being in theater where you hear applause ...[but] I think the show's going to stand up."

For her part, McPhee is much more excited than nervous.

"I'll be at the Super Bowl and I'll have my fingers crossed for Smash!," McPhee says, before revealing that she'll be rooting for the New York Giants on February 5th.

"I've never been a part of anything that's been so supported by the network and studio like this," Messing adds about NBC's big push for the new show. "It makes us all feel that no matter what happens, we all feel proud of what we've done."

But she might have a bit of a rivalry with co-star McPhee on Super Bowl night -- she's going for the Patriots.

"I'm a New England girl," she reveals."I grew up in Rhode Island … gotta do it."

Smash premieres February 6th, at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
