According to Deadline.com, Britney Spears is close to signing a deal to join Simon Cowell's The X Factor, and her salary could be even richer than previously reported.

Britney Spears Offered Millions for X Factor Gig

In March, Deadline claimed that Britney had been offered $10 million, $2 million less than the salary Jennifer Lopez was reportedly paid for her American Idol gig, to sit on the show's panel. Now, the news source claims that Britney could match or surpass J.Lo.

Britney's fiance, Jason Trawick, is handling the negotiations for the deal, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The first round of auditions for The X Factor began March 1.
