American Idol was stunned last night when Jessica Sanchez received the fewest votes and was faced with elimination. Luckily for Sanchez and her fans, she was saved by the judges and ET was backstage to hear the nearly eliminated contestant's reaction to the wild night.
"I do what I do best and I just work hard and I try my best," Sanchez said, echoing what she had said on stage after the judges used their save to prevent her elimination. "Whatever happens, happens. That's what I believe and I'm so grateful they came up and saved me tonight," she added as she fought back tears.
Sanchez's fellow Idol contestants confidently reaffirmed the judges' decision to save the 16-year-old San Diego native and expressed gratitude to have the Top Seven remain together for another week.
"That was a lot of drama tonight," said Elise Testone, who was in the Bottom Three after singing Lady Gaga's "You and I." "I'm just really glad this is the way it worked out and we're all together and no one's going home."
Judges Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson, who were visibly shocked when it was revealed that Sanchez had received the fewest votes, also reacted to ET about the near elimination. Tyler said that it felt like it was set-up when Sanchez was selected for elimination and that the Ryan Seacrest's division of the contestants into two groups threw everyone off.
With the judges having used their only save of the season, someone is going home next week as American Idol continues next Wednesday on FOX.
