PBS Masterpiece's American broadcast of Sherlock was a smashing success in its first outing (snaring 3.2 million viewers despite stiff Sunday night competition from Game of Thrones, Mad Men, The Killing and more). But that's no surprise to longtime fans of the inspired modern day reimagining of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic character, brilliantly embodied by rising star Benedict Cumberbatch.
And this rollercoaster is just getting started according to Sherlock EP Steven Moffat. "We said, 'To hell with deferred pleasure -- let's get on with the big stories now,'" he told ETonline of plotting the course for season two. One that began with Irene Adler in last week's premiere, A Scandal in Belgravia, and continues in Sunday's all-new outing, which brings to life Doyle's classic story The Hounds of Baskerville.
"There are so many memorable stories in the Sherlock catalog," Moffat said, "but I was interested in looking at the slightly more forgotten pieces as well. The ones that don't instantly jump to mind."
Take a gander at a sneak peek clip from Sunday's Sherlock and tune in to PBS at 9 p.m. to witness the whole case unfold!
