'Swamp People' Star Dies

ET has confirmed that Swamp People star Mitchell Guist died on Monday morning doing what he loves best.

Assumption Parish, Louisiana Sheriff Mike Waguespack told ET that the seaman was pronounced dead at the hospital after slipping on the deck of his boat due to what appeared to have been a medical issue, possibly a seizure. Guist was on the boat alone at the time of the incident, but was traveling with a second boat using the buddy-system. Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead after being transported to Teshe Regional Medical Center in Morgan City. The official cause of death has yet to be determined.

Mitchell was one half of a dynamic duo with brother Glenn, sharing a love of nature and hunting gators. History Channel's show Swamp People, which airs Thursdays, chronicles the bayous of the Atchafalaya River Basin during alligator hunting season. The show was not filming Guist on Monday morning.
