What Kind of Judge Will Britney Be on 'X Factor'?

By

Ever since it was confirmed in May that Britney Spears would be a judge on this season of Fox's The X Factor, many have anticipated just what the pop superstar's judging style will be.

According to L.A. Reid and seasoned X Factor UK judge Louis Walsh, who covered for an ill Simon Cowell at the Kansas City, Missouri auditions, Spears makes an amazing addition to the judging panel.

"We tend to agree with Britney more than the others," Reid says in a new backstage interview. "Honestly, I'm being funny, but she has amazing tastes. She really has amazing tastes."

"Britney is the best judge, for me," Walsh adds. "She tells it like it is."

Perhaps to be expected, the ladies of the panel -- Demi Lovato and Spears -- admit that they are more sympathetic to the X Factor hopefuls than their male counterparts, given they know firsthand what it's like to be an actual performer.

"It helps us to be able to relate to them a little bit more and understand where they're coming from, because we've actually been in their shoes," Spears explains.

And giving negative criticism certainly didn't come easy for them.

"It's something I've definitely had to learn," Lovato admits. "At first I didn't even want to do it ... I mean, it sucks. But they're asking for your advice, and by stepping on that stage they also know that you could, you know, not like their performance. They're taking a chance, and I'm going to take a chance by telling them something that I believe."
