"I love the whole concept of it! Moving from Nashville to L.A., which I did in 2001 when we came out to do the Reba TV show," said McEntire this week while promoting the freshman series at the ABC TCAs.

The comedy, premiering Friday, Nov. 2, follows Reba's character (also named Reba) as she relocates her eccentric mother and kids to California after it's discovered that her country music legend husband has been cheating.

Lily Tomlin, an entertainment force in her own right, plays Reba's character's mom, and McEntire tells ET the casting choice was a "dream come true."

"I was thrilled," she said of hearing Tomlin was on board. "I've known Lily since 2001 we met when I was doing Broadway and I just absolutely idolize her. I think she's brilliant…Just to get to work with her is a dream come true."

When we later spoke with Tomlin herself, it appeared the feeling was mutual.

"I loved the idea of being with Reba," she beamed. "I always was impressed with her absolute authenticity. I'd seen her on Broadway in Annie Get Your Gun and I'm telling you she was divine, truly."
